Leading car rental company Budget Rent-a-Car announces measures to help travellers in Europe affected by the travel disruption caused by the volcanic ash cloud.
Cancellation and “no show” charges are to be waived for those who have booked car rental with Budget Rent-a-Car:
Budget will not charge a cancellation or “no-show” fee where a customer cannot fulfil their car rental booking due to disrupted air travel caused by the volcanic ash cloud. We ask that customers cancel their reservations by contacting their booking source or online at www.budget-international.com
Any car rental bookings that have been pre-paid on a Budget website and are due to start during the affected period will be refunded in full if the customer cancels their reservation online. Online refunds will be made within 7 working days (cancellations made by phone will take longer). Please note that customers can only cancel online if the rental start time is in the future.
If the rental start time has already passed customers will need to contact our Customer Care teams. Please see budget-international.com for all local Customer Care team contact details. Please note that our call centres are very busy at the moment and customers may experience extended wait times.
To help travellers needing transport during the affected period:
Budget Rent-a-Car can offer one-way car rentals between some Continental European destinations for the hire cost plus a one-way fee (this fee reflects the cost of relocating the car back to its original location).
Additionally we have a number of cars that require repatriation to their home country/ location available at special rates.
Please contact your local Budget call centre for more information and availability of these services.
Olivier van Marcke, EMEA General Manager at Budget Rent-a-Car, comments:
“Everyone at Budget is committed to playing their part to help the many travellers across Europe affected by the recent air travel disruption. We hope the measures we have implemented will make things a little easier for our valued customers who may be worried about incurring additional charges due to their unavoidable delay at this time.”
